Description

An itinerary to discover the excellence of Valpolicella wine, through a landscape rich in vineyards and terraces. An itinerary in stages, with stops at three different cellars, to learn about the origins of Amarone, from the vineyard to the glass.

The visit to the first wine cellar will offer you the opportunity for an initial toast and to receive an introduction to the territory and the indigenous grape varieties that have made Valpolicella wine unique from an expert sommelier: the tasting of the first glass will thus be enriched by the beauty of the cellar and the expertise of the hosts.

The tour then continues along a path bordered by the marogne, the dry-stone walls that support the terracing of the vineyards following the shape of the hills, recognised by Unesco as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

During the stop at the second winery, you will be shown the winemaking process and the tradition of appassimento. You will then taste younger wines and not only wines from Valpolicella; there will also be a tasting of Amarone.

On the way to the last stop, you will encounter ancient wash houses, fruit trees, vineyards and olive trees. The sommelier along this wine walk will talk to you about the ancient and modern art of appassimento and the life cycle of the vineyard. They will also help you recognise the characteristic aromas of Valpolicella in nature, the same aromas that you will find in your wine glasses.

Finally, you will be taken on a guided tour of a third wine cellar: here you will discover the production process of Amarone and its special withering method. You will taste the wine in combination with typical local cold cuts and cheeses: Soppressa, Monte Veronese and more.

At the end of the tasting, a pleasant walk on the way back will take you to admire the findings of Villa Roma.
